A.T.M.A. is a non-profit making association, founded in 1889,
state-approved in 1926.
Its
goal is to
:

confront experiences
-
make know works' results
-
encourage initiatives
which
make progress the science and technique in maritime and aeronautical
domains, on the national plane and on the international plane.
The
A.T.M.A.
-
favours the personal contact between specialists in France
and in foreign countries,
-
puts at his members' disposal a technical library which contains
a lot of French and foreign works and publications,
-
organizes an annual session during which are presented and
discussed the original papers accepted by the Lecture Committee
and gives thus a quality forum, notably to younsters who want
their results to be know,
-
assures the publication of those papers and of the report
of the corresponding debates in a Bulletin diffused every
year in France and in foreign countries,
-
awards prizes in cash to the authors of the best papers,
-
proposes every year at the Societe d'Encouragement pour l'Industrie
Nationale, for the attribution of the Farcot Gold Medal, the
name of an author who distinguished himself by the quality
of the papers he presented.
