LNG carriers ordered by GAZ de France to CHANTIERS de l' ATLANTIQUE will represent a breakthrough with diesel electric propulsion. This innovative solution presents several advantages which are described. It was made possible due to the decision taken by the builders to use gas as the only fuel for the lean gas engines developed by WARTSILA.
