H.A.M (Humid Air Motor) process or the economic pollution reduction of the diesel engine

Diesel engine manufacturers must cope with a major challenge: the reduction of nitrogen oxyde emissions in exhaust gas. Facing the disadvantages of classical methods, H.AM. system is an original and promising solution. After both series of test to check the feasibility of the system, industrial validation has been achieved on a car-ferry in operation on Baltic sea. This technique which performs 70% NOx reduction by saturating inlet air with water vapour, is specially economical seeing that salted water is the consumable.
