The cruise ships of the “WIND STAR » series, built by Ateliers et Chantiers du Havre (france), are fitted with a 2,000 sq.m. sail system, fully automatized and computer-controlled.
The present paper describes this sail system, the rigging, the structure of the control software, and the safety devices. The performance results are also presented.
