Asymptotic theory of the rolling motion of a weak non-linearly damped ship on regular waves

A rolling equation with weak non-linear damping is solved using matched asymptotic expansions. Particularly, resonant response amplitude is obtained in closed form. The results are compared to direct numerical solution of the equation. The agreement is excellent.
