Hydrodynamics of planning hulls

Model tests on planning hulls allow accurate predictions of sea trials results.

Despite this fact, it is not possible to understand the detailed flow pattern around the hull surface. By means of pressure measurement on the bottom of a planning craft during sea trial, an hydrodynamic pattern is proposed. It involves on the forward part a jet system, and on the aft part the lifting surfaces theory.
