Crew reduction objectives are nowadays a common reality from many military navies. These objectives impose to the ship designer to adopt a new design process integrating humans factors fundamentals. Up-to-date solutions shall be proposed allowing to overcome the three main components of ship management system design: automation, dependability and crew. This design is today human centred.
