IPMS emerging use case for ipms data exploitation systems
Hélène BIGAUD - Naval Group – Architecture Navires Armés Bâtiments de Surface - Lorient (France)
For over a decade, Naval Group has developed IPMS data exploitation systems onboard French naval vessels. These systems have become an essential tool for maintaining operational availability and performing root cause analyses in the event of onboard failures.
These systems were designed as part of the IMS project (Intelligent Maintenance System) with the both objective of preventing failures through early alerts and to optimizing the maintenance plan.
Building on extensive operational feedback and technical maturity, these systems are now being considered for application in a new domain, which was successfully demonstrated and validated during an acceptance trial: support for sea trial execution.
The inherent capabilities of the data exploitation systems (continuous data logging, real-time and post-mission analysis, and flexibility for use both onboard and ashore) enable a redefinition of traditional sea trial protocols.
Thereby eliminating the need for heavy, bulky, and expensive specific equipment, as well as reducing the number of operators required to perform the trials.
