Safran: a computer aided design package for naval architect

SAFRAN is an interactive software package developed to fill the requirements of designing and building yachts: sail, use of buildings-moulds, new types of ships, etc. ..

Main features of this package are :

-hull design and fairing of lines along with hydrostatic calculations, issuing of drafts (body sections, water lines, diagonal sections), projections.

-Rigging calculations by the finite elements method, with wire elements, non linear distortions and buckling prediction.

-Stability curve computations (including for multi hulls).

This package is aimed at improving design efficiency, reduce cost and delay, and increase safety. It was used for designing large offshore racing trimarans (J. RIBOllREL for o. de KERSAUZON, BIOTHERM for F. ARTHAUD).
