Economical aspect of hull coating

Among fuel saving measures which can be applied to ships in service, those related to hull coating are of utmost importance.

This paper considers economical aspect of this question.

After a short review of propulsion power increase causes, different types of hull coatings ate economically compared.

Finally, a method for optimising period between drydocking, sandblasting and hull polishing is proposed.
